During the last 5 years BSNL was selling its products through its own outlets and through a Franchisee network. The existing sales network was reviewed by BSNL head quarters and a comprehensive sales and distribution policy was introduced during the end of the year 2006. To augment the franchisee-subfranchisee-retailer network, it was decided to introduce the concept of Direct Selling Agent with view to market BSNL products through personal selling at the door steps of customers.
This gives a viable business opportunity for enterprising individuals, mainly unemployed youth, who have a flair for marketing but do not have financial backing or experience to make a carrier in marketing. The DSA can sell all cash cards viz. recharge coupons, India Telephone Cards and Sancharnet Cards. They can also bring in customers for bfone, cellOne connections and broadband by approaching personally potential customers. An attractive commission is offered for selling of cash cards and bringing in customers for various services of BSNL. For e.g. 5% upfront commission is paid for re-charge coupons and 10% for ITC. The minimum purchases limit of Rs.2000/- has been fixed for per occasion. Enrolling of DSA is done by the General Managers of the 17 Secondary Switching Areas (SSAs) in Tamilnadu Circle. The minimum educational qualification is specified as 10th STD pass. Those who are interested in becoming DSA can approach the Marketing Wing of the concerned SSA. The detailed terms and conditions can be had from them. The DSAs have to enter into an agreement after paying a refundable deposit of Rs.5000/-
